SENIOR OF THE MONTH ADAM ABOLAFIA and other stuff
The meeting started with John Congemi, Assistant Principal at Douglas, giving his monthly update. He started by thanking Drew Bartoszek for donating landscaping at the school to upgrade the courtyard - it was much appreciated. He also noted they will be breaking ground for a 36 room class room building with 6 science classrooms. Also they will be doing the ethical seminar for the 19th year.
John then introduced the Senior of the Month - Adam Abolafia. Adam has been accepted at UCF and FSU but is waiting to hear from UF, Michigan and U Penn (where he really wants to go). He had been been awarded "Kids of Character" award by the Sun Sentinel, Junior of the Year at the Hugh O'Brian Leadership Convention and a lot of other things that the writer can not read. But he has had over 250 service hours and - ok - I can read this - he was the manager of the GIRLS soccer team and a member of the ballroom dancing club. No comment. But he was also on the track team!
Brian O'Donnell, Interact advisor for Taravella was in attendance today as well. He noted that the Taravella club had donated to the stadium drive there and had contributed between 2,500 to 3,000 cans for the Harvest Drive - in addition to clothes and other non perishable items. They are currently working on a Holocaust project well.
