Parkland YMCA and

Rotary Night at the Florida Panthers

Ryan Bluski started things off talking about the Rotary Night at the Panthers - February 29th.  A number of members have agreed to attend.  Also discussed was the possibility of doing a club social at a Panther game next year.

Seriously now, can anyone think of the YMCA without thinking of the Village People.  Well we would guess Sheryl Woods can, and she gave some history and background about the YMCA, and especially what it does here in Broward County.  They have a motto of "Building a Stronger Community" and with all the programs they have - after school care, health and fitness classes, team sports, dance classes and the like - their actions echo their words.

A presentation was then made about the new Parkland YMCA.  In an agreement with the City of Parkland, the YMCA has taken over the running of the facility in that city, outfitting it with state of the art equipment, work out facilities, meeting rooms, gym and a host of other facilities.  Check out their web site at http://www.parklandymca.org/
