Must be a new year, and that means the annual Governor's visit.  Seems as how Prez Drew was so tensed up that he threw out his back and was unable to make the event.  He did make the Board meeting the night before by cell phone speaker phone and did a great job.

Gov Jim recognized our good deeds but challenged us, as he will all 6990 clubs to ramp up in several areas.  First, he is looking to increase the total membership in 6990 to 3,000 by 2010, and has suggested that a good number for us would be 30 members.  He handed out invitations to be completed by the members and to be mailed by Jim to encourage friends and associates to come and check us out.  He related as how he passed on inviting Joe Altschul, a neighbor, to join Rotary, and after another club member invited him he has become club president, held District level positions and is currently Youth Exchange chair.  Go figure!

He has also increased the goal for Foundation giving and has challenged us to a per capita donation of $165 for the coming year.

Also in attendance were several visitors, one being Luigi Rezzonico from Switzerland, whose son will be spending the year training with the Coral Springs Swim Club.  Luigi did a banner exchange with fill in Tom Pratt and mentioned that he is the incoming President of his club.
