MARIA REDONDO

A new academic year has started and it is Senior of the Month time.  For those not familiar with the process, one senior is chosen each month by the entire Douglas faculty and we award that individual a give certificate and a nice little plaque, when we get out act together to get these things.

The first Douglas SOTM is Maria Redondo who is looking forward to a pre-med college career at either Tulane or University of Florida and hopes to enter the medical field as a radiologist.  Maria has had a very active high school career - President of her class each of the first three years, and in her senior year she opted to not take on Senior Class President but instead assumed the presidency of the Broward County Association of Student Councils (website http://www.bcasc.net/).  She also started two organizations - "Project Teenager" which is a support group for teenagers in families where someone is suffering from a serious illness, and "Sunblock Students" providing sun block for students for P/E classes outside.

In addition to SOTM John Congemi did his monthly Douglas update and as the Bowl-a-thon is but a short way away much discussion was had concerning our first fund raiser.
