Rotary Grant for University Teacher Recipient Terrell Manyak

and

Douglas High Senior of the Month

That time of the month - John Congemi introduced the Senior of the Month for Douglas High - Isaac Schamis and as usual he is an outstanding individual.  He has been accepted to the University of Michigan and is interested in pursuing a career in journalism.  Aside from being president of the MSD National Honor Society he  as played football for 2 years, written for the school paper, started a drive to collect DVDs for our soldiers and has won the Teen Service Award for Palm Beach County.

Our speaker today was Dr. Terell Manyak, professor at Nova Southeastern University School of Business, member of the Rotary Club or Davie-Cooper City, former Assistant Governor, and now, and the reason for his talk, the recipient of a Rotary Foundation University Teacher Grant, one of the only awards available to Rotary members from the Foundation.  He spoke of his formative teaching years which involved teaching at the University of Khartoum in the Sudan, and he will now be able to fulfill a life long dream to go back to Africa but due to the political situation there he will have to go to East Africa where he will teach and hope to travel extensively with the help of the local Rotary District governor.  The district where Terrell will be teaching encompasses 4 countries, and he is looking forward to visiting all.
