"An Adelson Day"

AND

A New Paul Harris Fellow!

The day started with a ceremony proving once again that the "Little Club that Could" is behind the Rotary Foundation.  Todd Finkel became the 14th current member of the club attaining the status of Paul Harris Fellow.  In a well rehearsed ceremony Prez Drew presented Todd with the bling representing that honor.

Well it was Adelson Day here as well.  Our speaker, Wendi Jill Adelson, was introduced by her dad, and our member, Harvey Adelson.  Dad kept the intro under an hour and a half - but it was tough - Taravella grad - Valedictorian; Brandies U. Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude in addition to being a Truman Scholar; Junior Fellow at  the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in DC; Gates Scholar to Cambridge University in England getting a Masters in Philosophy; did research in Uganda, Africa; Reed Scholar at UM School of Law where she got her J.D. with Honors and she is presently an Adjunct Professor at FSU Law School where she is Program Director of Human Trafficking at the Center for the Advancement of Human Rights.

YIKES!!!!

But after the intro Wendi had some serious things to relate.  That there are about 17 thousand human trafficking cases in the US annually, and in terms of illegal international activity it is second to drugs.  Basically what human trafficking is modern day slavery - typically sex and labor exploitation.  It is estimated that the phenomenon creates $9 billion in profit to those who support the system.

He actually had to READ his daughter's intro

A serious program

Now whose ticket for the 50/50  does the speaker pull? DAD'S of course!
