HARVEST DRIVE 2008

Harvest Drive is a program which started 16 years ago, and the Rotary Club of Coral Springs-Parkland got behind it after its founder, Renee Herman, was a guest speaker a year ago.  Last year the Interact Clubs of Taravella and Douglas assisted, and the driving force behind the effort, from our club's standpoint was Drew Monaghan.  Last year food, clothing and other necessities were provided for about 40 families.

This year Drew decided we could all do a lot better.  So an additional collection/distribution point was added - Pompano Beach High School, and many other school - middle and elementary- were added as collection points.  Club members and Interact members aided in the collection of donated items, not only at the local schools, but at local businesses as well, so that this year the Harvest Drive in our area was able to provide for 140 families.

A great job was done by Drew Monaghan who spent countless hours organizing and encouraging others to participate.  A true example of what Rotary in action can be.
