SCHOLARSHIP BREAKFAST 2009

Today we introduced and presented scholarship award checks to our 2009 high school winners in Coral Springs and Parkland.  We weight our scholarship to service in honor of Rotary's motto "Service Above Self" and our recipients certainly personified that ideal.  But this year, in addition to incredible commitments to service our winners were excellent scholars as well as indicative of their future study plans and institutions.

And it needs to be noted that one of our scholarship winners, Nicole,  happened to be the President of the Interact Club we sponsor at Douglas High School.  She would have won otherwise, but that was a nice extra.

In addition but unfortunately not pictured were the Assistant Principal at Douglas, John Congemi, and our SUPER Interact Advisor Lauren Rosa (and her soon to be twins).

Also showing up for a free breakfast was our Inbound Exchange Student, Nadja, and her buddy from Finland, hosted by the Miramar-Pines Club, Oona.  They will each be departing shortly for a trip around the West Coast.  Why do we not have more exchange students?

And speaking of which - the daughters of Bear and Paula are now in Germany for a short term exchange, and Tom's son will be leaving for Spain shortly.
