TOM PRATT GETS AN AWARD

Today’s meeting included a full schedule – so on to the good stuff:

Our fifth scholarship winner joined us – Maria Herrera, Class of 2009, Coral Springs Charter School. The winner of a $1,000 scholarship, she will be entering FAU’s nursing program. Congratulations and best of luck Maria!

Our own Tom Pratt received District 6990 Interact’s Rotary Liason of the Year award for his many hours of mentoring, leadership training and support of our Interact clubs and Interactors. Great work Tom!

Our Guest Speaker this morning was Dr. Paul G. Grillo of Correct Care Chiropractic, who spoke to us about Coping With Stress. Dr. Grillo walked us through sources of stress and methods of managing it, while busting some myths about stress, nutrition, medicine and fitness. Research indicates that over 60% of all illness is related to stress. Dr. Grillo offered sensible solutions to managing stress through proper nutrition, hydration, exercise, and the pursuit of mental health through positive internal conversations that redefine our personal expectations. Very useful and timely information – thank you Dr. Paul!

A surprise guest joined us late in the game. John Brandt of the Miami Dolphins popped in for a moment, fresh from another meeting at the Marriott, to say hello and share a quick anecdote with us. It seems he had been able to maintain a low profile all these many years UNTIL his photo and name appeared on our website after his last speaking engagement at the club. This apparently made him google-worthy, resulting in an unsolicited contact by an “old girlfriend” from decades past. Sorry we blew your cover, John!
