CLICK ON THUMBNAIL FOR LARGER VERSION Assistant Governor Outbound Mariya |
HERE COME DA GOV, HERE COMES DA GOV! TWO PAUL HARRIS FELLOWS!! AND YOUTH EXCHANGE TOO!!!
You should have been there - and most of you were!! What a great turn-out. Too bad some of our newer members missed the meeting but they now have been appointed to positions that we all are sure they will enjoy - kind of like the guy with the shovel and barrel at the end of a parade :-)
The meeting started off with some surprise awards - two of the Drews were awarded multiple Paul Harris awards. Drew I (Drew Bartoszek) was awarded a third level, and Drew II (Drew Monaghan was awarded a second level in recognition of his presidency). Congratulations to both.
In attendance today were a couple of special guests - our youth exchange students. Leaving for Nagpur, India in two days was our Outbound Mariya Davis and her mother Michelle. She is excited and prepared. And having arrived less than 12 hours before was our Inbound student Nadja Häfliger from Switzerland. Check out her arrival pictures here Our District Governor was introduced to an old, um er, long time friend of our club - Debby Maymon is our Assistant DG, or whatever they are calling them today.
Marcy UIllom has a long and distinguished educational career. And the title of DG is well deserving. She has held many positions within the District and was a GSE Team leader to the Philippines ten years ago - explaining why the GSE team this coming year is going there as well. Marcy started her talk by recognizing members of our club who have served the district in recent years and currently - Todd Dayton, Drew Monaghan, Tom Pratt, Pat Short Hornsby among others. She also outlined the "plan" for the district in the coming years - a cooperation among district leadership for the next three years, and to continue into the future. She emphasized a need to support the Rotary Foundation, and a plan to have the district support the clubs in areas of fundraising, fellowship and networking.
Great turnout and a great time for all.
