Lauren "I JUST GOT MY MASTERS" Rosa |
HARVEST DRIVE 2008 Before the meeting got underway our Stoneman Douglas Interact Advisor Lauren "I just got my masters YOO HOO" Rosa spoke about some amendments which will be on the ballot in November. Bottom line - vote NO for 5, 7 and 9. Don't ask - just do it!
Our speakers today were Jodi Samson and Renee Herman of the Harvest Drive project. Now in its 16th year our club will be participating for the second year and helping to coordinate this event in the North Broward area. This year in addition to Douglas High School, Pompano High will be working as well.
Last year the North Broward effort provided a week's worth of food, including a Thanksgiving dinner, for 36 families. This year they are hoping to increase this number significantly. In addition to food, they are looking for toys, blankets, books, towels and BIKES!
The work days are November 18 and 19 at Douglas High. It is hoped to get North Broward organized the way it is in Weston where every school got involved - with the slogan "Kids Helping Kids".

Also in attendance was Nadja Häfliger our exchange student from Swaziland.* There was no school today so her host Dad, "Bear" brought her along. Nadja did talk to Prez Bruce after the meeting to find out if that constitutes Exchange Student abuse.
