JIHAD FOR DUMMIES and

NEW MEMBER!

At or first "official" meeting at our new locale we started out with something we always like - a new member.  Paula Tier, with Northern Trust Personal Banking in Weston, has attended many meetings, and decided to join anyway!  She and her husband reside in Parkland and her daughter attends Douglas (where she will be an Interact member!)

On a much more serious subject our speaker Peter M. Feaman spoke about jihad, radical Islam , and the roots of terrorism embraced by that sect.  Peter is a past president of the Boca Central Rotary Club and the author of "Wake Up America".  He started researching radical Islam after hearing a minister speak about the coral, and characterizing it as a very warlike work.  Initial writings of Mohammed were not as negative as the later positions taken.  On a discouraging note, he stated that Muslim extremist groups are growing in Europe for three basic reasons - the decline of birth rates of native Europeans, unbridled immigration in many European countries to create a supply of workers to rebuild infrastructures after WW  II and the refusal of these immigrants to mix with the native population.

He stated that the current administration and the press are misleading the population using terms like "war on terror" rather than targeting the problem where it really is - radical Islam.  He made it very clear that not all Muslims fall into this group, but not properly characterizing the problem makes it worse.
