INTERACT AT

Taravella and Douglas

and

Taravella Senior of the Month

Well surprise, surprise.  What was billed as a Club Assembly turned out to have two sets of speakers, AND a Student of the Month from Taravella (our first and previously unannounced).

Not to worry however.  Our president Bruce has more moves than O. J. Simpson and we pressed on.

The first event was the presentation of the student of the month to John Mern, who was actually the Senior of the month for September.  John received his recognition for creating a 911 Tribute on the JPT web site, and it can be viewed there on the school's home page.  He is not sure what school he will be attending but as the list of applications include most of the Ivy League we are sure it will be a most prestigious one.  His field of study will be engineering.  He did apply to FSU "just in case".

Nest up was the Interact Club from Douglas led by their fearless leader Lauren Rosa.  Each of the club directors did a short presentation of the club's goals and accomplishments for the year.  They did a terrific job at our Bowlathon, and will be of tremendous support for the Harvest Drive as well.

Brian O'Donnell was next as the sponsor of the Taravella Interact club.  This club has grown rapidly in a few short years, and Brian presented a powerpoint prepared by the club of its purpose, objectives and accomplishments.  Among their projects is "Smile Train" for cleft palate inflicted kids, "Life Straw" - a unique tool to purify water for drinking, beautifying the school marquee, and Harvest Drive in conjunction with Douglas Interact.  Brian also pointed out that our outbound exchange student, Mariya Davis, is an interact student from Taravella.  You can veiw a school newspaper article about her here, and you can view the JTP Interact club site here.
