OUR NEW EXCHANGE STUDENT

Representative Ari  Porth was the speaker today giving an update on the Florida legislature in general and his bills in particular.  One bill, of specific interest locally that he has sponsored is the "Jeffrey Klee Memorial Act".  Jeffrey Klee was a Coral Springs resident who was killed in the late 1970s but his remains were just discovered in the C-14 canal.  Even though there is now a confession from the person responsible for the death, he can not be prosecuted due to the Statute of Limitations.  This bill aims to fix that problem but, unfortunately, will be of no benefit to the Klee family as it can not be retroactive.

He has also filed a bill to classify crimes against homeless persons as hate crimes.  Each bill is pending in the legislature.

Also here today was our new Inbound Exchange Student Aneta (pronounced "A net a" not "A nee ta" from the Czech Republic.  She will be hosted by Paula and Mike Tier and daughter Nicole (and Zoie, of course).  She won the 50/50 but did not pull the ace - we are not that nice!

Looks like we asked a hard question
