SOUTH FLORIDA LANDSCAPING TIPS

and

TWO SENIORS OF THE MONTH

Due to the winter break we did not have the pleasure to have a senior of the month for the month of December from J. P. Taravella.  So not only did we have students for the month of December and January, but the adviser Michelle Stein AND the head honcho, Principal Shawn Cerra!   Shawn was here to express his family's gratitude for the Rotary Youth Exchange program which gave him and his family the opportunity to meet our exchange student from Czech Republic, Aneta Lysákowá.

The Senior for December is Stephan Hansen.  He is the captain of the debate team and organized a dance marathon at the school.  He will be attending Emory University in the fall.  The January Senior is Andrew Pentland.  Born in Iceland, he is co-president of the Decca and member of the Academy of Finance.  He recently won an internship at the City of Coral Springs, and will attend either UF or FSU in the fall.

Nancy Bono is a friend of Terry "Who" and is connected with Nu Turf.  She is a native Vermonter, but knows and has studied Florida landscaping for years.  To quote Nancy "weeds can grow on a bowling ball" and "if it pulls out easily, it is a plant, not a weed".   She is a State Certified Master Gardner, a program which takes 26 weeks to complete, one day a week.  It is an ongoing program requiring mandated community service and continuing education.  She had a lot of good suggestions for us!
