 THE GOV DOES HER THING!

Today was "Here come da Gov day" and she, Gov. Lee Phares, gave us some learnin'. This after husband Elihu did a plug for the Rotary Foundation. Lee discussed the "Four Elements of Rotary" - membership, projects, Foundation and to develop leaders beyond the club level. On the last point she recognized several members from "The Little Club that Could" who have gone way beyond their talent level!

Lee's goal is to have every club obtain a Presidential Citation - granted by the President of RI. To do this the club must (1) have a net gain of one member by March 31, 2010 and (2) complete activities in three of the six following areas of Rotary's strategic plan: (a) eradication of polio; (b) advance the public image of Rotary; (c) increase Rotary's capacity to provide service; (d) expand membership, both socially and in quality; (e) emphasize Rotary's commitment to vocational endeavors; ((f) optimize leadership talent. She then emphasized that it is important to fully implement the strategic plan for continuity.

A great year ahead with a great Gov!
