FELLSMERE PROJECT - DECEMBER 2004

Spearheaded by member Steve Getter the club participated in a project undertaken by Operation Hope in Fellsmere, Florida.  Originally a request by Steve to help support our Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop, many members donated food, clothing and other assets to assist Operation Hope feed and clothe the workers of that area of Central Florida devastated by several hurricanes this summer.  Then on December 19th several Rotarians ventured to Fellsmere to assist the scouts in serving thousands of hot dogs at a party for the workers and complete a playground for the kids of the workers while the parents attend educational programs at Operation Hope.  This charitable organization is well organized and functions year round.  Here are some pictures of the event of the 19th of December.

The facilities

Aside from our hot dogs there was some really cool food there!  This is a Mexican version of corn on the cob - a corn cob, slathered in Mayonnaise, and a secret Mexican concoction of hot spices!  Really great - even a Santa liked it!

This was for the kids too and they had a great time - face painting was in vogue as was balloons and hot dogs

There were some kids

at heart, too

And Santa as well

We were represented by the Cub Pack and Boy Scout Flags

There was a large turnout and a great band

The holiday spirit was there as well with
