ORLANDO!!

(or, what IS a gridiron anyway??)

At 7:30 AM on Saturday, January 26th, 2002 several intrepid members of our club joined members of the Rotary Club of Pompano to venture forth to Orlando for the Fourth Annual Rotary Gridiron Classic, a charity All-Star football game to benefit, among others, the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis.  The event, in pictures:

Wide awake and ready to go.

Chipper at 7:30 AM  Of course unlike husband Tony SHE didn't work all night

TONY:  "Where are the Bloody Marys?"

TERRY:  "Is my daughter REALLY getting married in August??"

Da Bus

Das Bus??

"Slick" Kenny from DEEE-troit standing next to his chariot with some "hot" tickets for sale

Tailgate party at the Citrus Bowl

That's good eats

When you are in the cheap seats you are wondering "Is it time to go home?"

Other nameless, shameless members got to go elsewhere!!

RI President Rick King sings the National Anthem

Rotary was well in evidence

How come they didn't do the 4 way test??

LEFT:  Past President Doug Betlach grants RI President Rick King an audience.  Here is a transcript of the exchange:

King:  So you are the current President of your club?

Doug: Yes I am.

King:  How many members do you have in your club.

Doug:  We have 15 currently.

King:  And you are going to get to 30 this year?

Doug:  No, 21.

King: Get out of my face.

Is that a smile or a grimace on Rick's face??

To some the game was an eye opener - to others....

The serious part - Mark Bunoconti (in wheelchair) and his father, former Dolphin Nick Bunoconti, standing to the right

There really was a game!!

Florida Won!!  40 something to something less than that

"Wheresh da busch???"

(just kidding - he wasn't drunk; actually when last seen he was drinking pink frickin' lemonade which raises other questions, but we won't go there)

Some of the great gang that made the trip, had a good time, and got to see the "Rida Citrus Owl" as well!!

And we enjoyed their company on the trip!

We were sartorially attired just as they were

As the sun sets Gloria toasts our hosts from the Pompano Club

BELOW:  We have no idea who these people are but they insisted upon having their pictures taken.
