JANUARY 16, 2001 MEETING |

Rob Seitz, Publisher The Forum |

|
Speaking today was Rob Seitz, Publisher of the Forum Newspapers. Mr. Seitz enthralled the membership with his "rags to riches" tale that took him from his humble beginnings in rural Margate to become the publisher of the largest newspaper in the second largest city in Broward County, Florida. Locally educated he attended Fashion Institute in Fort Lauderdale, and of his own volition while attending that school he spent countless hours doing research in the ER.* After starting his own newspaper empire in Pembroke Pines and Cooper City, he went on to greater challenges in the telecommunications industry. His shining star could not be hidden, and the Chicago Tribune chain brought him on board and made him publisher of the Forum Group, but only as a short stop before he will assume the position of Chairman and CEO of the Tribune group. The membership was moved to have the magnanimous personality as our speaker, and comments were made that had the speech been in written form it surely would have been nominated for a journalistic Pulitzer prize. The laudatory nature of this account, and the comment by Gloria Rossomano that we would like Rob to consider joining our membership is purely coincidental. |
