Betlach Sports Complex at Luther
College Today we
were honored by having Keith
Christensen, Vice President for
Development of Luther College, located in the small northeast Iowa
town of Decorah. Keith was here to announce that due to a major
gift promised by Doug and Sandy Betlach, the college will be building
the Betlach Sports Complex at the campus, complete with domed
multifaceted stadium for football and baseball, an Olympic sized pool
and an ice hockey rink. The Betlach's, it was announced, outbid
the Bill Gates Foundation for the naming honors for this facility. It
is a little known fact at the club that Luther College, Doug's alma
mater, considered nominating Doug for Division III All American during
his football days. After looking at his record, however, they
though better of it.
After hearing the kind words
of Mr. Christensen, Doug responded "Don't worry Keith, the check is in
the mail!!"
