Coral Springs Bond Issue

The City of Coral Springs has a bond issue on the March 14th ballot and the Chief of Police, Duncan Foster and a representative of the fire department, Mark Curran, addressed the club about the need for the bond issue and where the funds would go once passed.  The current public safety building was built many years ago when the city was much smaller, as were the police and fire departments.  It was also built to "pre-hurricane Andrew" standards, making the building and those in it vulnerable in the event of a major hurricane.  So the funds will be used to build a new fire station along side the existing structure, expand the current facility to create additional filing and office space, and to "harden" the building to withstand a category 4 hurricane.  And the best part is that as there has been debt retired this bond issue will not increase city debt.  Support for the bond issue was urged.

In addition to our speakers we were joined by our current Inbound Exchange Student, Conny Kleint, who enjoyed a good breakfast and a few hours away from school.
