County Court Judge

Lou Schiff

HERE COME DA JUDGE

Lou Schiff has been a Parkland resident for almost 20 years.  The "thrill" of practicing law gave way to a desire to sit in the big seat in a courtroom, so ten years ago he became a county court judge and now holds court, so to speak, in the North Regional Courthouse in Deerfield.  An animated speaker, and that is an understatement, the Judge covered such wide ranging topics as his caseload (10,000 per year), hoped for and anticipated changes at the courthouse, and a rather fervent defense of the American jury system (leaving Gloria to hope she doesn't find herself in HIS courtroom any time soon!)  He also recalled the old days in Broward and that now even he does not know all the judges in this district - but he has no problem staying in Deerfield forever rather than fact the commute to Fort Lauderdale on a daily basis.

While he didn't mention it during his talk the Judge is also a volunteer director with the Sawgrass Springs Middle School in Coral Springs - even though his two kids attend Douglas!
