Property Appraiser William "Bill" Markham

Our Appraiser!!  AND a New member!!

The speaker today was Broward County Property Appraiser William "Bill" Markham, Broward County Property Appraiser for over thirty years.  Bill was quick to point out that even though the assessment roll in the county has grown by billions since his tenure began his office staff which was 129 people when he started is only 129 today.  (Guess he had too many people back then???  )

Bill also pointed out the he and other state appraisers had lobbied the legislature several years ago to get the "Save our Homes" initiative on the ballot as a constitutional ammendment, one which passed overwhelmingly.  The trust of the amendment is to cap increases in property appraisals for Homestead properties to no more than 3% of the prior years assessment, something which has saved Florida residents thousands each year.

We appreciate Bill's taking time from a busy schedule to join us along with several members of his West Broward staff, and he made it clear that his offices are available to all for assistance .

NEW MEMBER

Joining us as a new member is Russell Morris, proposed by and former neighbor of Drew Bartoszak.  Russell is a pharmisist/United Airlines captain/mortgage broker and is joining under the classification of mortgage services.

Russell looks less confident than Drew!!
