CORAL SPRINGS CANDIDATES' DAY
Our first ever candidate's breakfast produced six candidates
for office in the City of Coral springs - both candidates for
the offices of Mayor and Seat 2 and two of the four candidates
for Seat 4. ( Although invited Robert Pasin and Mike
Natale for Seat 4 elected not to show up.) Each candidate
was given time to address the audience after which a short Q & A
was had. Elections are March 14th and hopefully Coral
Springs will improve its abysmal voter turn-out record.
OTHER STUFF
Senior of the
Month
What would the end of the month be without John "Big Bucks"
Congemi showing up for a free breakfast and using Senior of the
Month for an excuse :-) Before introducing this month's
senior John brought us up to date on the doings at MSD High,
including the fact that the girl's soccer team won its 4th
straight state championship, a feat never done by any school,
private or public, in the state of Florida. WAY TO GO.
The Senior of the Month this month was Jason Gray. Jason
is President of the State Championship Debate Team, Vice
President of the Student Technology Leadership Program, Vice
President of the National Honor Society, and Co-Vice President
of the English Honor Society.
Jason also organized various service projects, including the
Computers for Children Program, a volunteer initiative aimed to
even the playing field for the underprivileged youth in the
community through computer technology donations to families and
organizations.

Youth Exchange Orientation
Birch State Park
We were well
represented at the recent orientation weekend for exchange
students at Birch State Park in Fort Lauderdale.
Saturday evening Paul and Elsa Marineau, Pat and Sam Hornsby
and Todd Dayton showed up to dish out dinner. We were
also represented by our current Inbound student Conny
Kleint, former Inbound student Rebekka Bottig (from Austria)
and former Outbound student Javier Garcia who went to
Taiwan. They all did a great job and we should be
proud of each and every one! |
