Tsunami Relief in Sri Lanka
Three former residents of Sri Lanka, two pictured at the left and Viraj Wikramanayake, joined us today to talk about relief efforts they have undertaken to assist their native country. The group, all residing in the Miami area, are part of a group called STARR - Sri Lanka Tsunami Assistance, Recovery and Relief. The individuals involved support this cause with their own monies, and all overhead and expenses are paid from their individual donations so all funds raised go for relief efforts. They have chosen an area where these individuals originally lived to support, and the efforts are geared toward getting hospitals up and running as well as rehabbing schools so the kids can continue their education.
OTHER NEWS Gerry Sussman, accompanied by Drew Monaghan, Gloria Rossomano and Paul Marineau as well as District Governor Roland Benson and Assistant Doug Maymon addressed the Coral Springs City Commission seeking support for our efforts to provide "aqua boxes" to tsunami victims.
