MARCH 20, 2001 MEETING |
|
THE CONSERVANCY OF SOUTHWEST FLORIDA The speaker chair for today, Drew Bartoszek, did not have to go far to find a speaker. His son Ian, visiting Mom and Dad for a few days, got drug out of bed early and was the program today. And he did a very interesting one! Ian is currently an intern at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida in Naples and he described both the nature and purpose of the Conservancy, the various programs and facilities available, as well as the efforts of the program to preserve and reclaim vast areas of Florida's southwestern wetlands. Once his internship is finished Ian will be working with the Conservancy to monitor activities of the various species of animals and how the reclamation and restoration efforts are succeeding. In other news Prez Carl announced that we will be giving our Interact a percentage of the take from the Honda Classic, Pat reported on the golf tournament efforts and we learned that we will be looking for temporary housing in May when Eagle Trace closes to redo the course. More on that later! |
