SENIOR OF THE MONTH

Busy day today.  First, John "Deep Pockets" Congemi gave the month's update about Douglas High.  The year is winding down with Prom this coming weekend, Grad Night shortly and end of school around the corner.  The track is being installed at the new football field and there is a lot of hope that the stands and concession stand will be ready for the next season.  He then introduced Marissa Simon, Senior of the Month for the month of March.  Marissa is involved with a lot of school clubs and activities, including the lacrosse team, and plans on studying marketing and business at the University of Florida this fall.

Dawn Rahicki, principal of The Illume Group, a marketing firm specializing in personal and entrepreneurial coaching, was today’s guest presenter. The topic was Self Care & the Leader. Dawn led the group through a series of exercises designed to help busy people avoid burnout and that overwhelmed feeling by eliminating “tolerations”, simplifying, establishing boundaries & avoiding problems, and adding good daily health habits.

Also in attendance were two exchange students who are Inbound from Germany and Thailand this year.  Christopher and Mo exchanged banners with Prez Tom, which was nice, but they were probably not real happy about being up early on their spring break!
