Worldwide Scouting and other stuff
An eclectic program today, or really programs. A surprise guest was Billy Kilmer, former NFL quarterback who spoke briefly about his career and, as an added surprise, donated two autographed footballs - one including Sonny Jergonson and Billy, two Washington Redskin quarterbacks, and another with a multitude of football and other sports heroes.
Thereafter the real program started with Edi Bibergall, our former Outbound Exchange Student to Japan. Edi is also an Eagle Scout, and it was in that vein that he addressed the club. Edi was asked to participate in a World Council on Scouting in Japan, so not only did he get to go back to his adopted country, but he got to act as translator and teach some of those with him something of the Japanese couture he learned during his time there.
The event was sponsored by WOSM, the World Organization of Scouting Movement to which 154 countries subscribe. There are only 6 countries in the world that have no scouting and 34 countries that are not WOSM. These councils are set up to discuss problems and concerns facing not only scouting but the world in general. A great presentation by Edi! |
