Mayor Emeritus Ed Heafy

Our first meeting at Heron Bay was today, and most appropriately the first speaker was the first Mayor of Coral Springs, Ed Heafy.  Although old politics did come up in casual conversation after Ed spoke, he was visiting us to talk about a drive to raise money for a statue to honor our "Protectors" - the fire and police officers of the City of Coral Springs.  A picture of the proposed statue, with slight modifications is below.  Along for moral support was Captain Jeff Mazlin of the CSPD, and a former Rotary Group Study Exchange team member to New Zealand in 1994.  He is also a former Rotarian, but we will not hold that against him!   Thanks to Ed and Jeff for telling us about this worthwhile project and we hope we can help.
