State Representative

Ari Porth

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

State Representative Ari Porth

A look into the workings of the Florida State legislature was in the offing today as former Freshman Representative Ari Porth was our speaker.  Motivated to get involved in politics coming from a background in the State Attorney's office Ari told of some of the serious, and not so serious, efforts in Tallahassee this past legislative season.  He filled us in on some of the bills that he proposed, and also noted that if you somehow get on the wrong side of the leadership your bills kind of fall into a black hold.  It was noted that Representatives only have 6 bill "slots" - ie, can only introduce 6 bills, and one Representative used one of those slots to propose that the key lime pie be the State pie!

A humorous and serious presentation at the same time, it appears we are well represented in Tallahassee.
