4 KIDS of South Florida
Tom Lukasik, our speaker today, started 4 Kids of South Florida in 1999. It is a tax exempt child placing agency, one of seven in Broward, licensed by the State of Florida. Their total is to ensure that children placed in the Foster care system by the Broward judiciary get excellent care and housing and work to meet the needs of kids physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually.
The services provided are recruiting, training, continuing education and licensing Foster families, placing kids in licensed Foster homes as well as support and parenting classes for biological and Foster families.
Another aspect of 4Kids is SafePlace 4Kids, a shelter for all children through age 18 upon their removal from biological families due to abuse, neglect and/or abandonment, and before they are placed in Foster homes.
Sixty percent of the funding for $kids comes from state contracts. To learn more check out the web site at www.4Kidsofsfl.org
