Our speaker today was Ellen Munnelly from the pre-school at Many Help of Christians Catholic School in Parkland. Ellen spoke about the need to provide education facilities for autistic children and gave a great program about autism in general, the practical and financial concerns for parents for autistic children, the various degrees of autism and the practical limitations of a facility to try to deal with the education process. This year they will start with six autistic children and have a program where the autistic and "normal" children will intermingle to give each a chance to learn about and deal with each other. A great program - thanks Drew!!! |
