DG Owen Freed

GOVERNOR'S VISIT
This was date of the annual and official visit from the District Governor of District 6990, Owen Freed. But before he addressed the large assembled group Prez Todd dispensed with some club bidness. First, world traveler Terry Witcher, looking well relaxed and not at all like a moose, was given his Treasurer's pin and thank you gift for serving as same last year. Then Prez Todd, with the assistance of club Foundation Chair and DG Owen award second level Paul Harris Fellowships to Paul Marineau and Drew Bartoszek.
Drew Bartoszek, or more appropriately Assistant District Governor Drew ("call me your Highness) Bartoszek, then introduced the DG Owen, getting about half of the resume right. The Gov is a former Ambassadorial Scholar and was the founding father of the Youth Exchange Program in District 6990, which he chaired for many years. He is a strong advocate for Youth Exchange and echoed RI President Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammar's wish for greater participation in that area. He also stated that the Rotary Foundation has provided almost $142,000 in funding for district projects in year 2005 - 2006, $75,000 for Ambassadorial Scholarships and another $16,000 for a water project in Nicaragua. The Gov applauded the efforts of our little club.
