Rotary Elder Program

We were privileged today to have Rotarian Jack martin as the speaker on the program entitled "Rotary Elder Care", a program administered by Jack.  Due to the generosity of a Miami Rotarian funds are available for projects, large and small, to assist the area's elderly.  In addition to funds, Jack and other program advisors are available to help identify programs, plan and coordinate the project and assist in all manner and means to accomplish the project goal.  In addition to matching funds for a project, this program has as a requirement for each project that there be hand's on participation by members and not just a check signing.  The projects they have done so far have been as small as $200 and as large as $20,000.0 and range from providing meals, restoring homes to providing a park in an area where the residents are predominately elderly.  A great program and one we can easily get involved with.

"Terrorism - the Israeli Response"

Before the program today Gerry Sussman spoke about an upcoming event with which we are involved - an all day event on November 12th culminating in a symposium that evening entitled "Terrorism - the Israeli Response" with keynote speaker Michael Stein, M.D., a world renowned expert on terror related trauma.  This event will involve not only a host of medical and response team personnel from Petah Tikva, a city with which the Coral Springs International Partnerships is arranging an ongoing relationship, but medical and first response individuals from the State of Florida.

A huge crowd was on hand today, much to the chagrin of waitress Teri,, but she and we survived.  Part of the reason for the numbers was that we were visited by the organizing group form the new Rotary Club in the District, Weston Sundown, which we are sponsoring.  The entourage, led by District Hoo Ha Doug Maymon was here to thank us for our involvement.
