Lets give away ALL the Bucks!!!
Today was give away the money day - literally!! The recipients of some of our fundraising efforts last year under Prez Carl showed up to get their booty. In attendance, and pictured on this pate were Ed Heafy, former mayor and member of Coral Springs Protectors, a group working to create a memorial for the men and women of Coral Springs who work on the fire and police forces. Ed was given a check for $500.
Next, Joan Kohl, founder of the Sawgrass Nature Center and Wildlife Hospital was given a check for $2,500 representing a portion of the proceeds from our annual golf tournament.
Finally, Al Downing, the principal of Bright Horizons School in Pompano was given a check for $2,500. The school is an annual beneficiary of our fund raising efforts, and Al did a program on the current state of affairs at the school.
Al was not done, however - either with his duties or taking away money. As our guest he was given the opportunity to draw the lucky number for the 50/50 card game and not only did the lucky slug pull his own number, he pulled the ace of hearts as well!! Splitting a pot of over $570. Don't come back too soon,m Al.! :-)
