Will it play well in Peoria?? Our program today was supplied by none other than multiclubed member Ron Scott. Ron said he didn't realize that he had the speaker responsibility until last week (and it is therefore safe to assume he doesn't look at this site much, so he will be severely picked on). So he dug deep into the Scott bag of tricks and came up with a tape of the "festival of Lights" parade in East Peoria, Illinois. And so you may ask yourself "So What??" Well it turns out that the fine Mr. Scott started this tradition which will celebrate its 20th anniversary next year, and it is going very strong, as the tape demonstrated, without the firm hand of Ron's guidance. It really did look like a cool parade and a ton of work must have gone into it. But then, that is Ron's style, even if he DOESN'T look at the web site.
Also in attendance today were some of our students for this year. Inbound Charly Kleint was rudely awakened by host brother Javier Garcia, our Outbound to Taiwan, and dragged to her first meeting. Our other Inbound, Stephan, has arrived but escaped this torture for another week. |
