Parkland City Manager

Mark Lauzier

STATE OF THE CITY

Even though we got displaced to Heron Bay today, and even though we shared a room with a group of four men who were obviously chronically deaf ( considering the volume level at which they communicated) we had a good meeting and were joined by Mark Lauzier, the City Manager of the City of Parkland.  Mark has been on the job for just over a year and in that time the city has been transitioning into a "strong city manager" type of government.  Mark's background is in budgeting and he came to Parkland from the city of Pompano where his last position was that of Assistant City Manager.

Mark shared with the group some of the many plans that the city has in the works, from the mundane (like a traffic light) to some really big plans for new schools and parks.  He also spoke about some mixed use business/residential areas that will be coming into the city in the near future.

Making her first appearance at the club was our inbound student Conny Kleint.  Too early for her program but it was her first opportunity to meet some of the club members.
