Camelot Community Center

Our speakers today were Michele Egan and Nicole Vredenburg of the Camolet Community Center of Fort Lauderdale.  This organization works as a non-profit entity finding foster homes for "at risk" kids - abused, abandoned, in trouble, etc.  Especially challenging is finding homes for the older children and some kids of minority backgrounds.  Additionally, finding the right foster home for the right child is also challenging.  This organization also provides counseling for some of the kids by way of a for profit arm of the corporations.  Camelot has also successfully arranged for some of their kids' adoption by foster families.  The organization is supported by public funding as well as private donations.
