AUGUST 28, 2001 MEETING

Da Gov and his charming wife Susan

Here come da Gov, Here come da Gov

To a thunderous ovation and tumultuous applause, District Governor Robin Shelley was greeted by the membership of the Rotary Club of Coral Springs - Parkland today, a truly momentous occasion.   Delivering an address only slightly shorter than his introduction by Assistant District Governor Doug  Maymon, the District Governor recalled the words of RI President Richard King, Charles Dickens and possibly Elmer Fudd to elicit all range of emotions from humor to pathos, from unbridled enthusiasm to sheer Rotary pride.  At the conclusion of his address he was given a reception not unlike that of the allied troops marching down the Champs Elysee after World War II.

And, in truth, it was a talk that covered all aspects of the Rotary World, from Membership, the Rotary Foundation and all of the great things done by it and all of the great service that Rotary performs in the world - after all, MANKIND IS OUR BUSINESS!

Visiting us again today were Ken Williams and Ray Callahan, who are either interested in joining or enjoy the rigors of eating oatmeal that tastes like spackle.

Robert (Robin) J. Shelley, III, District Governor

Also in attendance was Suellen Souza our Exchange Student from Brazil.  So impressed was she Suellen was unable to make any kind of address, so it will be postponed to a later date.
