Lauren Rosa

A Trip to Ecuador

Lauren Rosa is an art teacher at Douglas High School.  She is also the advisor to our Interact club that has taken the club from a membership of about 5 to over 50 in a year.  These are just two of the many things she does - and another is a love of adventurous travel.

This summer Lauren went to Ecuador and did a rather rustic tour of some of the remote portions of the country with accommodations which might challenge most of the less hearty in the group.  There was running water and showers, but sleeping in mosquito netting was a challenge.  In addition to the touristic things, like seeing local cities and natural sites they also got to meet local village children in a local school that was one room, one teacher and 13 kids spread over 8 grades.

Also in attendance was Honorary Member John Congemi who filled us in on the doings at Douglas High School.  The Senior of the Month will begin again in September.
