  Florida Atlantic University Athletics

Not one but two speakers today.  The program started with Athletic Director at FAU, Craig Angelos.   A new hire at FAU from Miami, Craig gave a background of athletics at FAU, and some detail as to the NCAA regulations with respect to the various NCAA Divisions.  He was happy to announce that FAU just won its first game against a Division 1a team, and that he was cautiously optimistic about the upcoming game with Central Florida.  He also announced plans for an on campus arena which would house both football and basketball. lice the Carrier Dome at Syracuse.

Our second speaker was basketball coach Sidney Green, a journeyman NBA player having played with the likes of Michael Jordan and Patrick Ewing.  His first year at FAU the team won 2 games, 7 the next and in his third year the team made it to the NCAA playoffs.  But the coach seemed most proud of the fact that he instituted mandatory study hall for his players and that the grade point average of the team increased considerably during his tenure.
