The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
Our program today, arranged by the lovely and talented Doug Betlach and the much more so lovely and talented Sandy Betlach (who was also in attendance) was put on by Melissa Ward (left) and Lissa Russey (below left in black). The Society, formerly known as just the Lukemia Society, uses about 85% of funds raised for research, a great percentage! Melissa is a recovering leukemia patient. |

Lisa and Melissa spoke about the research work
being done and the various fund raising activities, including an event
called "Light the Night", a walk with supporters and survivors,
each carrying colored and lit balloons to signify what whether a walker is
a survivor or supporter.
The next such event will be September 19, 2001 at Brian Piccolo Park in Cooper City at 6:00 pm. If interested in joining in call 954*458-3550 ex 21 for info. |

Since there were so few in attendance we decided to split the 50/50 pot among those of US there. It was certainly FAIR to ALL CONCERNED!!! |
