Chase Adams

Attorney, Writer and Speaker

GOD AND OUR COUNTRY

A student of the founding of our country, Chase Adams, attorney and writer, was the speaker today on a topic that might be considered controversial in today's climate, but he demonstrated that the founding fathers may have had different ideas as to the place of a supreme being in the formation of this nation.  He provided everyone with a copy of the Delcaration of Independence and the Constitution for review, and showed that there are four references to a supreme being in the Declaration, and he opined that such a supreme being is the bedrock upon which our nation is grounded.  He also stated that there is no reference to "separation of church and state" in either the Declaration or the Constitution, and that the only reference to that phrase is in a letter from Jefferson during the drafting of the Constitution.

An interesting and thought-provoking discussion.
